What I do at work

Tui plc, First Choice and Falcon holidays logos

I'm currently the Web Content Manager for First Choice Holidays responsible for leading a team of web designers, front-end developers and copywriters.

Working on one of the most popular e-commerce sites in the UK (in terms of unique visitors, revenue and brand recognition) is a fascinating challenge. Sitting within the User Experience team I'm focused on creating user centered and tested solutions that surpass business targets.

The two main websites I work on are firstchoice.co.uk and the number one Irish holiday website falconholidays.ie.

put the user at the heart of every decision you make

Recently both websites have undergone a complete site redesign from the foundations upwards (Falcon launching mid-October). Being involved from inception to delivery has been an exciting project to have left my mark on. From hundreds of pages on the website here's my top 10 First Choice webpages for content, function and design.

My approach to working on the web is simple. Put the user at the heart of every decision you make. Inspiring and informative content, eye-catching design and helpful functionality, all geared to helping individual customers complete their desired tasks, add up to make a positive web experience.

I was given the opportunity to present my ideas and approach to web design at a 2-day pan-European conference of TUI group heads of e-commerce in Palma. The presentation 'Merchandising the web: designing for the user' is available at slideshare.net.
